The Heritage Advisory Committee acts in an advisory capacity to Council, providing recommendations to the Planning and Economic Development Committee, followed by final consideration and approval by Council. 

The Heritage Advisory Committee advises Council on all matters related to the conservation of buildings of historic or architectural value and on all matters relating to the designation and preservation of heritage conservation districts in accordance with the Ontario Heritage Act. 

The Committee does not advise or assist on new planning and development, except for new applications on all properites defined in Part IV and Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act.
